Career

In 2004, Fischer’s mother sent a demo CD to artist manager Uwe Kanthak. He got in touch with producer Jean Frankfurter and Fischer was signed to a recording contract. She had her television premiere on May 14, 2005 on Ersten at the folk music wedding festival. In the program she sang a duet with Florian Silbereisen. Her first album “Von hier bis unendlich” was released on February 3, 2006. The lyrics were written by Irma Holder and Kristina Bach.

Fischer took first place at the MDR Summer Hits Night 2007 and also reached number one in the MDR hit parade with the song Im Reigen der Gefühle. In July 2007, MDR dedicated the music film So nah, so fern to her, featuring her current tracks from the album of the same name. The film was released on DVD in September 2007. One day later, she received two awards for her two albums Von hier bis unendlich and So nah wie du gold.

At the three-day SWR4 Rheinland-Pfalz Schlagermarathon 2007, she came third with the title Mitten im Paradies and ninth and twelfth with two other titles. In January 2008, she was awarded the Krone der Volksmusik in the category “Most Successful Female Singer of the Year 2007”. She went platinum for her album Von hier bis unendlich. With the title “Und morgen früh küss ich dich wach” she reached second place in the spring hit parade of NDR 1 Niedersachsen.

In the fall of 2007, Fischer embarked on her first solo tour. She then produced her third studio album Zaubermond. After its release in June 2008, it reached number 2 in the German album charts. This was followed in September 2008 by the Goldene Henne in the music category and in February 2009 she received her first two Echos at the ECHO awards. The third DVD Zaubermond live with a 140-minute concert recording from the Admiralspalast in Berlin in March 2009 was released in June 2009.

Her fourth studio album, So wie ich bin, was released in October 2009 and immediately reached number 1 in the Austrian and number 2 in the German album charts. In Switzerland, the album reached number 7. Her first “Best of Helene Fischer” was released in June 2010. The album was produced entirely by German music producer Jean Frankfurter. Together with the songwriters Kristina Bach, Irma Holder, Tobias Reitz, Frank Ramond and Andreas Bärtels, he also wrote the songs. The album entered the German album charts at number two in its first week. It reached number one in Austria. The album also reached number five in Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands.

In December 2010, Best of Live – So wie ich bin – Die Tournee with the live recording of her concert in October 2010 at the O2 World Berlin was released on Blu-ray, DVD and CD. In 2011, she was nominated four times for the Echo: Best Album (with Best of Helene Fischer), Most Successful DVD Production National (with Best of Live: So wie ich bin), Best Live Act National and Artist/Artist/Group German-language Schlager, but failed to win any of them.

With her fifth studio album “Für einen Tag”, which was released in October 2011, Fischer conquered the top of the German charts for the first time. She reached number two in Austria and Switzerland. The album was certified gold in Germany within two weeks and later went platinum. The success continued beyond the German-speaking borders, with chart positions in the Netherlands (number 1), Belgium (number 7) and Denmark (number 19).

In 2012, Fischer was awarded the Krone der Volksmusik as the most successful female singer of 2011 and received the Goldene Kamera for Best Female Musician National in February. At the ECHO 2012, she was nominated in the Album of the Year category, but won in the German-language Schlager category. Her live album “Für einen Tag – Live 2012”, released in December 2012, also conquered the charts and documented a concert at the O2 World Hamburg. In 2013, Helene Fischer received two Echos for her live album in the categories “German-language Schlager” and “Most Successful National DVD Production”. Her musical versatility was also demonstrated by her involvement in the Disney film “Vaiana”, for which she sang the German version of the song “How Far I’ll Go”. At the end of 2016, she released an extended version of her Christmas album, which once again conquered the charts with eight new tracks and reached number four in the annual charts.

In May 2017, Helene Fischer proudly presented her seventh studio album with the simple title “Helene Fischer”. The album shot straight to the top of the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Two of the singles, “Nur mit dir” and “Herzbeben”, reached number 34 and number 6 respectively in the German singles charts. Herzbeben” in particular was awarded a Golden Record for over 200,000 copies sold. The third single, “Achterbahn”, followed in October 2017 and successfully reached the top 10.

Another milestone was November 2017, when Helene Fischer received her third Bambi. Her album “Helene Fischer” crowned 2017 as the most successful album and topped the annual charts. With this remarkable achievement, she has topped the annual charts four times in five years, which has never been achieved in Germany before.

The period from September 2017 to March 2018 was dominated by her tour, during which she presented her latest album in 63 concerts. The tour, conceived in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil subsidiary 45 Degrees, won the coveted Live Entertainment Award in April 2018. The 2023 live tour from April to October was staged and produced by Cirque du Soleil. There were 71 concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Fischer was accompanied on the tour by dancers and acrobats from the Canadian circus.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the megahit “Atemlos durch die Nacht”, Helene and Shirin David re-recorded the song in 2024 and sang it on the cult show “Wetten, dass…? In November 2024, Helene released her heartfelt project “Die schönsten Kinderlieder”, a collection of 25 reinterpreted classics such as “Hoppe, hoppe Reiter” and “Weißt Du wieviel Sternlein stehen”.

Private life

Helene Fischer was born in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, in 1984 as the second child of the Russian-German couple Maria and Peter Fischer. Her father worked as a sports teacher, her mother as an engineer at a university. Fischer’s grandparents were Black Sea Germans who were deported to Siberia in 1941 during the Second World War. In 1988, her parents moved with her and her six-year-old sister from the Soviet Union to Wöllstein in Rhineland-Palatinate. As a pupil at Wörrstadt secondary school, she took part in theater and musical clubs.

After graduating from high school in 2000, Fischer completed a three-year training course at the Stage & Musical School Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main, which she completed in 2003 with the stage maturity examination as a trained musical actress. She received her first engagements during her training. She performed at the Staatstheater Darmstadt in the Rocky Horror Show, at the Volkstheater Frankfurt in the hit revue Fifty-Fifty and in the musical Anatevka.

Fischer had been in a relationship with Florian Silbereisen since May 2008. The two were considered the “dream couple of German pop music” and were often the subject of speculative headlines in the tabloid press. In December 2018, they announced that they had been separated for some time but were still friends. Fischer announced that her new partner was aerialist Thomas Seitel, with whom she works in her stage shows. The two married in December 2021 and became parents to a daughter in the same month.
