Lena Meyer-Landrut was born Lena Johanna Therese Meyer-Landrut in Hanover on May 23, 1991. She is a German singer and songwriter. Lena grew up in Hanover as an only child. Her hobbies include ballet, jazz and expressive dance, and she also sings in a recreational band. “Just for fun”, she applied for Stefan Raab’s casting show “Our Star for Oslo” in 2009, which, after years of failure, was finally looking for a worthy participant for the “Eurovision Song Contest” again.

Breakthrough

The lively schoolgirl quickly makes her mark. In the final of the show, she sings the songs “Satellite”, “Bee” and “Love Me” – the first is voted the “ESC” song, Lena the interpreter. All three songs storm the top 5 of the charts, something no artist has achieved before her. Her debut album “My Cassette Player” immediately shoots to number one.

It’s not just Germany that is enthusiastic about Lena, as she now simply calls herself: at the final round of the “Eurovision Song Contest” in Oslo, “Lenamania” spreads to the whole of Europe. Lena Meyer-Landrut wins by an overwhelming margin. She scored the coveted twelve points nine times. One day later, Satellite lands at number one in many other countries. Stefan Raab and Lena spontaneously declare that the singer will defend the title in her own country in 2011.

In a preliminary round, TV viewers can choose the title for the “ESC” 2011 in Düsseldorf from six songs from Lena Meyer-Landrut’s second album Good News. Lena competes with Taken by a Stranger, her album once again reaches number one in the German charts and gold status. The show becomes a gigantic TV event, Lena achieves a respectable 10th place. Her third album Stardust (2012) as well as the fourth longplayer Crystal Sky (2015) and the fifth LP Only Love, L (2019) are also huge successes, each reaching number 2 in the charts.

On May 31, 2024, Lena will release her sixth studio album “Loyal to myself”.

Lena on TV

Lena Meyer-Landrut also shines on TV with a lot of presence. The singer was a coach on The Voice Kids from 2013 to 2019, and over the years she has coached alongside Tim Bendzko Henning Wehland, Johannes Strate from Revolverheld, Sasha, Mark Forster, Stefanie Kloß from Silbermond and The BossHoss. In 2013 she recorded with Mike Singer took part in the show. Although he didn’t win, the show really kick-started his career. In 2015, she even managed to win the show with her protégé Noah-Levi.

The new album Only Love, L. was released in April 2019. However, contrary to the upcoming album title, Lena announced her separation from her long-term boyfriend Max von Helldorf in January 2019. The two had been a couple for eight years, but largely kept their love away from the public eye. Mark Forster and Lena Meyer-Landrut, both coaches on “The Voice Kids”, found not only professional success, but also love. The birth of their son in 2021 crowned their relationship, which they enjoy away from the public eye while inspiring fans with their family happiness.

Cooperation

Private

Mark Forster and Lena Meyer-Landrut met on a very special TV show in 2015 – ‘The Voice Kids’. Both worked as coaches on the popular talent show, mentoring and supporting young singing talents.

During their time as coaches on “The Voice Kids”, the two developed not only a professional but also a deep personal relationship. Their shared passion for music and enthusiasm for promoting young talent brought them closer together.

The couple’s happiness was made perfect by the birth of their son in 2021. The small family enjoys life away from the public eye and still manages to inspire their fans and admirers with their love and family happiness.
