The concept of "The hit song of the month"?

The hits of the month are usually broadcast on MDR on the first Friday of each following month at 8:15 pm. In 2018, they were always broadcast on the last Friday of every month, with one exception. The only exception was the September 2018 edition, which was postponed by one week due to the live broadcast of the Goldene Henne 2018. Bernhard Brink hosted at the beginning.

Simon Allert and Christian Bömkes wrote the title song ‘100 Million Volts’, which was produced by Henning Verlage and interpreted by Brink. The annual charts for the past year were presented for the first time in the special edition of ‘Die Schlagercharts’ on January 17, 2020. Christin Stark will replace Brink as presenter from February 2023. In the July 2023 issue, Stark was replaced by Peter Heller as she fell ill at short notice.

The Schlager Top 50 are presented in several quick runs. Individual music videos of placed artists are shown. In addition to the official Schlager charts, the program includes other sections as a top 50 hit parade. These sections also take a look at the world of pop music beyond the music charts. Since 2020, the annual charts have also been presented in January of each year under the title ‘Die Schlagercharts’. In the years 2018 to 2022, the monthly pop album charts were determined by GfK Entertainment. From 2023, the concept changed and the monthly Conservative Pop airplay charts were published by MusicTrace.
