In 2006, Stürmer was awarded the Echo, an important German music prize, which further cemented her success in Germany. Despite occasional criticism from the domestic press, which dismissed her as a “sales mascot”, she was able to establish herself as an artist to be taken seriously.

More albums and musical diversity

Stürmer’s 2008 album Laut-Los featured unplugged versions of her well-known songs as well as new tracks that ranged musically from rock and pop to country and swing. Ich Hör Auf Mein Herz was released in 2013, underlining her desire to break away from her casting show image and be perceived as an adult artist. Further albums such as Seite An Seite (2016) and Überall Zu Hause (2018) showed her development as a musician, even if they sometimes remained in quieter balladic waters.

Retreat and comeback

After a quiet phase, Stürmer withdrew from the limelight, but returned in August 2023 with an “MTV Unplugged” album, the first of its kind to be recorded by a German-speaking musician in Vienna’s Volkstheater. The first single from this album, Ich Lebe (MTV Unplugged), was released in fall 2023, and the full album MTV Unplugged In Wien has been announced for March 2024.
