Eva Briegel

Eva Briegel was born on December 3, 1978 in Leonberg. She is the singer of the Giessen rock band “Juli” .

Career

Eva Briegel’s family first lived in Böblingen. In 1982, they moved to Langgöns in central Hesse. Briegel attended the local elementary school from 1985 and the Anne Frank School in Linden from 1989. She completed her Abitur in 1998 at Gesamtschule Gießen-Ost, after a year in the upper secondary school at Liebigschule Gießen.

During her school years, she sang in various bands and projects and was interested in a career in music. However, she first studied in Heidelberg for one semester and then spent thirteen semesters at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, where she studied various subjects such as art history, classical archaeology, education, psychology, German studies and psychosocial medicine. She also worked as a PC saleswoman and in a bar. In 2004, she dropped out of university without graduating. In 2023, she stated that she was studying psychotherapy and was about to complete her bachelor’s degree.

She joined the band Sunnyglade in 2000 through the publisher Goodwell Music, which was looking for a replacement singer for Miriam Adameit. Eva Briegel agreed and became the new front woman of the band, which changed its name to Juli in 2001. The first single “Perfekte Welle” and the album “Es ist Juli” were successful. The second album “Ein neuer Tag” was released in October 2006.

TV

Eva will be on the TV show in 2024 “Sing meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert” together with Johannes Oerding Sammy Amara, Tim Bendzko , Joy Denalane , Eko Fresh and Emilio can be seen.

Life

Eva Briegel is in a relationship with guitarist Andy Penn from the pop band MIA. Penn was also involved as a guest musician on the third July album “In Love”, which was released in September 2010. Their daughter was born in spring 2010. Briegel lives with her partner and daughter in Berlin. She was baptized and confirmed as a Protestant and has been singing in a Catholic church choir in Berlin since 2022. Although she describes herself as non-religious, music and singing in church are important to her.
