And.Ypsilon

Andreas Rieke was born in Stuttgart on November 17, 1967. He is better known under the pseudonym And.Y or And.Ypsilon and is a member of the music group “The Fantastic Four” . He works as a producer and DJ for his band as well as for other artists.

Career

In 1986, together with Michael Bernd Schmidt alias Smudo the music duo “Terminal Team”. In 1989, Thomas Dürr, alias janitor Thomas D and Michael Beck, alias Michi Beck or Dee Jot Hausmarke, joined them and founded “Die Fantastischen Vier”.

Andreas Rieke, also known as And.Ypsilon, is not only active as a member of the Fantastischen Vier, but also as a producer for other artists. Together with Ralf Goldkind, he produced Thomas D’s second solo album “Lektionen in Demut”. In 2003, he released the album “Y-Files” with electronic music, from which the single “Test Tube Baby” was released. Rieke has also been a lecturer in producing at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts since 2008.

Another facet of Andreas Rieke’s work is the dubbing of the penguin Rico in the German version of the Madagascar film series.

Life

After graduating from Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Thomas D. began studying computer engineering at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. However, he dropped out after five semesters due to his aspiring music career.
