Nicole, daughter of Marliese and Siegfried Hohloch, began her musical career back in 1971 with performances at school and company parties. In 1980, music producer Robert Jung discovered her at a pop festival in Schwäbisch Hall. In the same year, she lent her voice to the theme song for the German dubbing of the Japanese animated series Captain Harlock. In 1981, the label Jupiter Records under the direction of Ralph Siegel signed Nicole. In the summer of the same year, her song Flieg nicht so hoch, mein kleiner Freund was released, which stayed in the German singles charts for 22 weeks and reached number 2.

On April 24, 1982, Nicole won the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) at the age of 17 with the song Ein bißchen Frieden. Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Harrogate, Great Britain. After a long break, Nicole returned to the stage in winter 2008/2009 to present her album Mitten ins Herz, released in spring, as part of an unplugged tour. She was accompanied only by a backing vocal and instruments such as guitar, bass and cajón. The church tour started on November 14, 2009 in the Auferstehungskirche in Kassel.

After her professional separation from Ralph Siegel, she moved from Jupiter Records to Ariola, a Sony Music Entertainment label. In 2013, she signed with Telamo. To mark her 30th stage anniversary, a double CD and DVD entitled 30 Years with Body and Soul was released on October 29, 2010.

In December 2020, Nicole was diagnosed with breast cancer when two malignant tumors were discovered in her right breast, after which she withdrew from the music business for almost two years to focus on her recovery, during which time she underwent intensive treatment.In July 2022, 40 years after her historic ESC victory, she finally returned to the stage and celebrated an emotional comeback on TV, which moved her and the audience to tears.
Her comeback single Ich Bin Zurück marked this new beginning and symbolized overcoming her illness.

Nicole has been married to her childhood friend, motor vehicle expert Winfried Seibert, since August 17, 1984. The couple live with two daughters and two grandchildren in Nohfelden-Neunkirchen in Saarland. In July 2022, she said of her successful recovery: “I’m just glad it’s over and I can really look forward again”.
