Floor Jansen, born on February 21, 1981 in Goirle, the Netherlands, is an outstanding singer of symphonic metal. She began her career in 1997 at the age of 16 in the band After Forever, of which she was the lead singer until they disbanded in 2009. Since October 2013, she has been a permanent member of the Finnish metal band Nightwish, of which she is the frontwoman.

Her talent became apparent early on: in 1999, Jansen began studying at the Rock Academy in Tilburg and took singing lessons at the Fontys Conservatorium at the same time. She completed her studies in 2004 and then deepened her training in musicals and opera. In addition to her career as a singer, she works as a singing teacher, gives private lessons and workshops and teaches at the Rock Academy.

Diverse music projects and international recognition

In addition to her work with After Forever and Nightwish, Jansen has been involved in numerous other music projects, including Ayreon and Star One by Dutch musician Arjen Lucassen. She has also worked with artists such as Devin Townsend, Evergrey and Timo Tolkki. After After Forever disbanded in 2009, Jansen founded the band ReVamp with Joost van den Broek and Waldemar Sorychta, whose debut album was released in 2010.

In 2018, she released her hard rock album “Northward” with Jørn Viggo Lofstad, with whom she had already written music in 2008. She also achieved great fame through her participation in the Dutch show De beste zangers van Nederland, which ultimately led to a successful solo tour in 2020.

In 2020, Jansen released the song ‘De Beelden Blijven’ for the TV documentary Kinderen in Oorlog: 75 Jaar Later, a project by War Child and SBS 6. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she showed her versatility with various cover songs, which she presented on her YouTube channel.

Her participation in the German TV show Sing meinen Song in 2022 made her known to an even wider audience and showed her musical range. Over the course of her career, Floor Jansen has earned a reputation as one of the most important voices in the metal genre and inspires fans all over the world.
