Tim Kamrad was born on April 10, 1997 in Wuppertal. He is a German singer-songwriter. Kamrad grew up in Langenberg, a district of Velbert, where he still lives today. His parents are from Poland. At the age of five he began guitar and his father later awakened his love of the Beatles. They sang “Twist And Shout” together and watched the “Anthology” documentaries on VHS.

Kamrad performed on stage with the school choir for the first time at the age of seven. He finished his school career in 2016 with an A-level average of 1.0 in math and English, and a mathematical average of 0.8. He abandoned his studies in industrial engineering in Dortmund in favor of his career as a musician. To support his dream, his parents took out a loan that would later pay off.

Kamrad and his career

After smaller band projects and initial songwriting experience, he worked with Motor Music’s Rent-A-Record-Company service, under which he released his debut single Changes on October 7, 2016. In November 2016, Tim Kamrad opened for Lions Head on the See You Tour Part II in Germany and Austria. He also played in Cologne on December 15, 2016 as the support act for the 1980s band ABC. On February 24, 2017, Kamrad released his debut EP Changes. As part of this release, he was voted Newcomer of the Month for March by Hamburg radio station N-Joy. At the end of 2017, he performed on some dates of the club tour as the support act for singer Lotte.

In 2018, he released his debut album “Down & Up” and opened for Sunrise Avenue on their Heartbreak Century Tour. In the same year, he also performed as the opening act for Nico Santos. Santos eventually brought him to the artist project WIER, where he worked on the solidarity song “Better Days” for Ukraine alongside numerous acts such as Max Giesinger and Malik Harris. He has been recording his songs in his own studio in Bochum-Langendreer since spring 2019.

In 2022, Kamrad made his final breakthrough with the song “I Believe”. The song became popular via TikTok and reached number 20 in the German charts as well as international success. In April 2023, he went on a major “I Believe” tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland with the single “Feel Alive” in his luggage. In May 2024, it was announced that Kamrad would take part in the 14th season of “The Voice of Germany” alongside Yvonne Catterfeld , Mark Forster and Samu Haber on the jury.
