Anna Depenbusch, born on October 17, 1977 in Hamburg, is a German singer-songwriter. singer-songwriterwho has developed an unmistakable style with her unique blend of poetry, music and stories. Anna Depenbusch released her debut album Ins Gesicht in 2005, an exciting mixture of pop and chanson. The song Heimat attracted particular attention and was nominated for the German Music Writer’s Prize. The unbiased and personal approach to the often difficult subject of home received much praise and recognition.

Her second album Die Mathematik der Anna Depenbusch (2011) marked her breakthrough as a pop chanson singer. A decisive moment in her career was her appearance on the TV show Inas Nacht, where she presented the song Kommando Untergang. Depenbusch herself describes this performance as a key experience. The song later appeared on the bonus CD Inas kleine Nachtmusik for Ina Müller’s album. In the same year, Depenbusch released a second version of the album, Die Mathematik der Anna Depenbusch in Schwarz-Weiß, which was recorded with piano accompaniment only.

In 2012, her musical success was recognized with two important awards: the Fred Jay Prize and the German Chanson Prize. In the same year, her fourth album Sommer aus Papier was released, which included a duet with Mark Forster and was well received by critics. Anna Depenbusch remains musically flexible and experiments with different genres such as blues and country, even if the influence of chanson remains clearly noticeable in her music. As a singer-songwriter, she writes, composes and produces her works herself and is thus in the tradition of classic singer-songwriters.

In addition to her career as Anna Depenbusch, she also works under various pseudonyms. Since 2003, she has been part of the Hamburg chill-out project Max Melvin as Anastasica. In 2008, she also composed Lara’s Song for a T-Mobile commercial under the name Ella Larsson. Before her solo career, she gained her first stage experience as a backing singer for the band Orange Blue.

In Hamburg “Zum Schellfischposten” Anna made a musical appearance in 2010 and 2017. In the legendary show “Inas Nacht”hosted by Ina Müllershe gave her musical best and thrilled the audience.

In 2016/2017, she received a practical scholarship from Villa Massimo, which supported her artistic development. In 2019, she founded her own label Liedland Records to have even more artistic freedom. Her album Echtzeit was released on this label in 2020, which was released in the Emil Berliner studios as a direct-to-vinyl recording, a special technical challenge that reflects Depenbusch’s demand for quality and authenticity. Today, she is also a deputy member of the supervisory board of GEMA and actively campaigns for the rights of music creators.
