Born in 1986, Sam Divine is one of the most influential personalities on the British house scene. With her deep connection to club culture, her keen sense for vocal and soulful house and her commitment to up-and-coming talent, she has made a name for herself internationally. Her career began in Weston-super-Mare, where she gained her first experience as a DJ in her mother’s garden shed and worked in record stores such as Spin Central and Chemical Records to deepen her musical knowledge.

A turning point was a chance meeting with Aaron Ross, then Defected radio host, in Notting Hill. This led to a job offer at Defected Records, whereupon she moved to London in 2008. There she initially supplied DJs in Ibiza with new tracks and was appointed event manager for Defected on the island in 2009. In the same year, she made her first appearances for the label, including as a warm-up DJ for DJ Spen at Café Mambo.

Originally influenced by hard house, Divine later discovered her passion for soulful and vocal house. Her sets are characterized by a mixture of deep, vocal and Balearic house, whereby she always demonstrates a keen sense for the right track at the right time. Influences from legends such as Frankie Knuckles, Masters at Work and Dennis Ferrer have had a significant impact on her sound.

In 2014, she released her first single “Confessions” in collaboration with Curtis Gabriel, which reached the top positions on Traxsource and Beatport. Further successful remixes followed, including “Flowers” and “My Desire”, which were well received by critics and audiences alike. Her mix album “Defected Presents Sam Divine In The House” reached number 82 in the UK compilation charts.

Divine founded the DVINE Sounds label in 2015 to provide a platform for up-and-coming artists. To date, over 100 releases have been released, including tracks by Curtis Gabriel and Josh Barry. The label also organizes events worldwide, from Miami to Sydney, and is regularly represented at festivals such as We Are FSTVL.

In addition to her career in the electronic music scene Divine is also committed to social causes. With the charity event “D-Vita”, which she launched together with 25 other female DJs, she has so far raised over 50,000 pounds for breast cancer research. She also supports up-and-coming female artists through mentoring programs such as “Lady In The House”.

In 2024, Divine released the singles “Cruel Intentions” with Jem Cooke and Hannah Wants and “Saved By The Record” with Josh Barry. Further releases are planned for 2025, including collaborations with Hayley May and remixes for artists such as Dennis Ferrer and Inner City.
