Inka Bause, born on November 21, 1968 in Leipzig, is a German pop singer. pop singerpresenter, actress and producer. Her life and career are closely linked to East German music– and television landscape. Thanks to her early discovery as a musical talent and her successful career, she has established herself in both the music and television industries.

Growing up as the third daughter of Angret and Arndt Bause, Inka was discovered by talent scouts at an early age. Her father Arndt Bause was a respected composer in the GDR who made his mark on the pop music scene. In the mid-1970s, the family moved to Berlin, where Inka continued her musical education. She learned violin at the Friedrichshain Music School and later became a member of the Stamitz Orchestra. She also studied piano– and singing lessons. In 1989, she successfully completed her vocal studies at the renowned Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin.

Her career began in 1984 with a performance in a New Year’s Eve show, where she wowed the audience for the first time with the song “Spielverderber”. In the following years, she was voted young singer of the year several times and received several awards in the GDR television hit parade “Bong”. Her debut album “INKA” was released in 1987, followed by further successful albums and single releases. In addition to her musical career, she built up a second mainstay as a presenter from 1988 and presented the children’s show “Talentebude” together with her future husband Hendrik Bruch.

Inka Bause was not only successful in the GDR, but continued her career in all-German productions after reunification. From 1996, she also worked as an actress and appeared in various television productions. The 1.78 m tall Inka has a daughter named Anneli, born in 1996, from Bause’s marriage to the late Hendrik Bruch (1962-2016).

She also celebrated success at the German Schlager Festival and attracted a great deal of attention in the music industry in 2001 with the song “Florian”. The song was named summer hit of the year by MDR and earned Inka Bause numerous television appearances.

After the death of her father in 2003, she took a short break before continuing her career as a singer and presenter. Since 2005, she has been best known as the presenter of the successful RTL documentary soap “Bauer sucht Frau”, which helped her gain a wide audience. She has also presented various formats on ZDF and MDR and appeared in other entertainment shows such as “Die 100.000 Euro Show” and “Das Supertalent”.

Bause returned musically in 2018 after a long break with the album “Mit offenen Armen”. The album, released by Universal Music, was created in close collaboration with her ex-husband Hendrik Bruch and other well-known artists. The album “Lebenslieder” was released in 2020, in which she takes a personal look back at her childhood and youth. Here, too, she proved her versatility as a co-producer and founded her own record label.

In addition to her musical career, Inka Bause is still active on television. She has hosted the show “Inkas Abend” on Schlager Radio since 2020 and has been the face of an online dating platform since 2021. She also took part in the popular show “The Masked Singer” in 2023, where she came fifth as “Toastbrot”.
