Who is Ennio?

Ennio Frankl, born in Munich in 1999 and known by his stage name Ennio, is a German musician. His parents named him after the famous composer Ennio Morricone. He began releasing electronic and English-language indie music under the pseudonym Emotional Club in 2016. His best-known track from this period is Crystal. Musically, he draws inspiration from artists such as Tom Misch and FKJ.

Since 2021, Ennio has been releasing German-language and often more acoustic songs under his real first name. According to Lena Klasen from the music magazine Diffus, the switch to German gives his voice a new dynamic that is reminiscent of Henning May. Natalie Driever from 1Live also draws this comparison.

In 2021, the young musician took the music world by storm with his first single “Blaulicht”. At the same time, he made his first appearances as support for Provinz, Jeremias and MAJAN. His social media followers skyrocketed and artists such as Casper, Kummer, Paula Hartmann and Jeremias came out as fans. His songs quickly cracked the magic mark of 10 million streams and tracks such as “Kippe”, “Unendlichkeit” and “Rimini” became regular guests in the playlists of 1Live, N-Joy, BR Puls, Radio Fritz and MDR Sputnik and have since repeatedly conquered the German airplay charts. At festivals such as Superbloom, Deichbrand and Frequencies, he impressed not only with his rousing live shows, but also with his distinctive deep voice, captivating lyrics and unique song productions.

In 2023, ENNIO took to the stage at over 30 different festivals, including as the support act for Kraftklub. He wowed the audience with a perfect mix of soulful love songs and energetic songs with mosh pit potential, as radioeins noted. The absolute highlight of the year is undoubtedly his second tour “Ennio 2023 Live” in the fall, which had to be moved several times to larger venues due to the enormous demand and is completely sold out. He will be presenting excerpts from his upcoming album “Schlaraffenland”, which will be released in summer 2024. To kick off the tour, the musician will also release the first single “Utopie” (05.10.23) from the upcoming album and whet the appetite for many new songs, features as well as a major tour and his own festival in 2024. In September, Ennio released together with Nina Chuba the title “Don’t you feel anything?”.
