Dennis Lisk

Dennis Lisk, born 1977 in Hamburg, also known as Denyo, Denyo 77, Dennis Deutschland or Dennis Dubplate, is a German soul– and hip-hop-musician and radio presenter as well as a member of the hip-hop group beginner.

Career

Dennis Lisk grew up in Hamburg, more precisely in the Eppendorf district. It was during this time that he met his later bandmates (Jan Delay and DJ Mad) from the hip-hop group “Absolute Beginner”. He became known as part of this band in the mid-90s under the name “Denyo”. Together with the “Beginners”, he released several successful albums, which held their own in the charts.

Solo career

After his time with the “Beginners”, “Denyo” released his first solo album in 2001 under the name “Denyo77” with the title “Minidisco”. This album contained his own productions as well as features from other artists. In addition to his solo career, Dennis has been part of the “Brothers Keepers” project since 2001, in which he collaborates with well-known hip-hop, reggae and soul artists.

He released a second album entitled “The Denyos”, which was written by himself, but apart from a few guest contributions from other artists such as “Eizi Eiz”, Ms Marx and DJ Mad, did not achieve the success he had hoped for.

Dennis Lisk also hosts the radio show “Top of the Blogs” on the Hamburg radio station N-Joy. In 2011, he took over the moderation of the docutainment program “Cover My Song” on VOX, for which he received the German Television Award in 2012.

Lisk is married to the actress, model, DJane and blogger Karline Lisk, lives with his family in Berlin-Mitte and is the proud father of a son (born in 2002) and a daughter (born in 2009).
