J\u00fcrgen Marcus<\/strong>, born J\u00fcrgen Beumer on June 6, 1948 in Herne and died on May 17, 2018 in Munich, was a German pop singer. pop singer<\/a><\/span><\/strong>who enjoyed great success in the 1970s. His best-known songs include “Eine neue Liebe ist wie ein neues Leben”<\/g>, “Ein Festival der Liebe”<\/g> and “Ein Lied zieht hinaus in die Welt”<\/g>. <\/p>\n\n

Marcus trained as a fitter and performed as a singer in various amateur beat bands. He chose the stage name “J\u00fcrgen Marcus” because of the similarity between his real name and that of the figure skater Hans-J\u00fcrgen B\u00e4umler<\/g>. In 1967, he won the European Festival in Brussels and appeared as “Claude” in the German version of the musical “Hair”. <\/p>\n\n

The music producer Jack White signed him in 1970 and produced his first single “Nur Du (El c\u00f3ndor pasa)”. His best-known title “Eine neue Liebe ist wie ein neues Leben” was released in 1972 and remained in the German top ten for 15 weeks. Marcus frequently appeared on television music programs and received numerous awards. <\/p>\n\n

He released numerous singles and albums with White. Other top ten hits included “Ein Festival der Liebe” and “Schmetterlinge k\u00f6nnen nicht weinen”. He tried his hand at the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson twice, but without much success. <\/p>\n\n

In 1975, ZDF broadcast the personality show “J\u00fcrgen Marcus: One for Many”. In 1976, he represented Luxembourg at the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson (Eurovision Song Contest – ESC<\/g><\/g><\/g>) with the song “Chansons pour ceux qui s’aiment” and came 14th. <\/p>\n\n

In the early 1980s, Marcus released further titles with various producers, but without commercial success. He continued to perform his old hits and later released new albums, including “Ich glaub an die Welt” (2004) and “F\u00fcr immer” (2008). In 1991, Marcus was the first well-known pop star to come out as homosexual in the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. He had been together with his manager Nikolaus Fischer since 1995. <\/p>\n\n

Marcus retired from the music business in April 2017 due to his lung disease COPD. He had been in a relationship with his manager Nikolaus Fischer since 1995 and died in Munich on May 17, 2018. J\u00fcrgen Marcus was buried at the Wolfratshausen municipal cemetery. <\/p>\n\n
