Jacqueline Boyer<\/strong>, born Eliane Ducos on April 23, 1941 in Paris, is a French chanson and pop singer. pop singer<\/a><\/span><\/strong>who is also known under the pseudonym Barbara Benton.<\/p>\n\n

Her mother, Lucienne Boyer, became world-famous with the chanson Parlez-moi d’amour, as did her father, the singer Jacques Pills (actually Ren\u00e9 Ducos). After divorcing Lucienne Boyer, he was married for several years to Edith Piaf, who became Jacqueline Boyer’s stepmother. <\/p>\n\n

Jacqueline Boyer’s breakthrough came in 1960: with the song Tom Pillibi<\/em>, she won the Grand Prix Eurovision de la chanson<\/a><\/span><\/strong> (today ESC<\/strong>). In the same year, she also received the Le coq d’or<\/g>, the “Golden Cockerel” of French chanson, for the song Comme au premier jour<\/g>. Also in 1960, she appeared in the German hit film Schlager-Raketen<\/g> and sang the song Oui, oui, oui – \u00e7a va, \u00e7a va!<\/g> alongside many other stars of the time. <\/p>\n\n

She subsequently received numerous contract offers. She sang in Charles Aznavour’s shows and married her colleague Fran\u00e7ois Lubiana in 1960, with whom she was married until 1968. During a trip to the USA, she appeared on television shows with Pat Boone, Perry Como and Ed Sullivan. On her return to France, she toured with Jacques Brel and Georges Brassens. In 1963, she had her biggest hit in Germany with the song Mitsou<\/g> by Christian Bruhn<\/g><\/g><\/g> and performed at the election party of the new Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt in Stuttgart. <\/p>\n\n

A serious car accident in 1966 paralyzed her career for about two years. It was not until 1968 that she was able to resume her career in Germany with a new recording contract with Cornet. She released the album Jacqueline Boyer<\/g>, which contained four new hits, including Mucho amore<\/g>, which became a top 10 success. However, she had no further chart successes from 1969 onwards. <\/p>\n\n

In 1971, she received an offer from Bruno Coquatrix, the director of the Parisian variety theater “Olympia”, to perform together with the chansonnier Charles Trenet. This was followed by concert tours with Charles Aznavour in Germany, London, Japan and New York, among others. Between these tours, she presented a joint music show with her mother at the Olympia in Paris. <\/p>\n\n

Inspired by her tours abroad, she decided to make her shows more American. She hired a new team of musicians and recorded several records under the name Barbara Benton. <\/p>\n\n

After a few years, she finally returned to France, took up her original stage name again and presented a show entitled Parlez-moi d’amour<\/em>, which was initially a great success in Canada before also going on tour in France.<\/p>\n\n
