His parents encouraged him to go to university at the age of 18. Wanting to stay close to Raw Materials, he turned down an interview at Oxford University to study at Brunel University in Uxbridge.

Despite the two-hour drive, Jax Jones went into the studio every day after lectures to work on his craft, regularly posting beats on Myspace. After graduating, Jax rented a studio in Sydenham after not being allowed to return to his family home, bought a Mac Tower from Gumtree and worked on his craft daily.

After meeting Duke Dumont, he developed an interest in house music and together they wrote and produced “I Got U”, “Won’t Look Back” and “Ocean Drive” Jones is featured on the single “I Got U”; the song reached number 1 in the UK Singles Chart in March 2014 and led to his breakthrough as an artist.

On July 24, 2015, he released the single “Yeah Yeah Yeah”. The single “House Work” followed in July 2016. Jax says of the track: “At the end of the day, I started making beats on a four-track machine, so it feels right to put that DIY energy into my music.” In December 2016, he released the single “You Don’t Know Me”, based on the sampling of the bassline from M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade’s 2005 hit “Body Language”. The song became his biggest success, reaching number 3 in the UK and the top 5 in several European countries, including Germany, Ireland, Belgium and Norway.

Jones continued to release songs in collaboration with artists such as Demi Lovato and Years & Years. On November 28, 2018, he released his first extended play, Snacks. The EP was later expanded into Jones’ debut album, <g id="gid_0">Snacks</g> (Supersize), which was released on September 6, 2019.

Jax has also teamed up with fellow DJ Martin Solveig to form the music duo Europa. Their first joint track “All Day and Night” (feat. Madison Beer) was featured on Jax’s 2018 EP “Snacks” and was released as a single in March 2019. Their next single, “Tequila” (featuring Raye), was released in February 2020. Their third collaboration, “Lonely Heart” with British singer GRACEY, was released on June 2, 2022.

On October 9, 2020, Jones released the single “I Miss U” together with the German-Antiguan singer Au/Ra. The song reached number 25 in the British singles charts, followed by an acoustic version. After the release, Jones tweeted about the song’s message regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the inability to see family and friends due to the national lockdown.

In January 2021, Jones advertised Irish music producer Emmet Glascott and singer Molly Morgan for the remix of Jones’ song “100 Times” in his Instagram story. On June 4, 2021, Jones announced the launch of his record label <g id="gid_1">WUGD</g> in partnership with <g id="gid_2">Polydor Records</g>. The label’s first song was <g id="gid_3">“Feels”</g>, the first single from his second EP <g id="gid_4">Deep Joy</g>, which was released on July 2, 2021.
